The way it was....

This is the same photo as yesterday taken a good few years ago! I don't know exactly what year it is, probably when the Clock Tower was first put up in the early 1900s.

Summer Time

Israel's gone onto Summer Time now. So we're one step closer to summer, yay! This is the Clock Tower in Jaffa. The Clock Tower was donated by the residents of Jaffa and the villages of Judea to mark the 25th anniversary of the reign (31 August 1878 to 27 April 1909) of Sultan Abdulhamid II. The cornerstone was laid on 1 September 1900 and construction was completed in 1902 or 1903. Have a good weekend everyone!

Weather Report

The problem with Tel Aviv weather at the moment is that one week it's 25°C and the next it's 18°C (maximums of course). Not long to go now until Summer arrives!

Flower Power

Recycling plastic bottles is taking off here (at last!). You can now find recycle "bins" like this all over Tel Aviv. The slogan on the right basically says: Israel is now much more beautiful thanks to recycling.

Sculpture

I found this sculpture in Ramat Gan (practically a suburb of Tel Aviv). I have no idea why it was there and have no background for it, sorry. But I like it and think it's very interesting. Have a good week, everyone.

The Score

The football match (last night) between Israel and England was a tie, zero-zero. I'm not that into football but it was a very good match. I didn't go to the match so there aren't any photos of it. But this is a photo taken at the pre-football-match party in Tel Aviv's Park Hayarkon. As you can see, the English fans were taken care of and fish and chips (and beer!) were served all over the place.

Go Israel!!

Israel's playing England this evening in a Soccer match at the Ramat Gan Stadium, Israel. It's very exciting and as you can see from the photo above, the festivities have begun! A big welcome to all the English football fans. I hope you're having a good time here in Israel. And I also want to wish the Israeli team luck - go Israel - behatzlaha!!!!

Jewels

Always a good topic with the ladies! Michal Negrin is an Israeli jewelry designer. Her jewelry is very unique and is setting new trends around the globe. She has a really great website too, worth having a look at.

Tel Aviv Promenade

This promenade stretches from Tel Aviv to Jaffa. It is really nice to walk along the beach front by day or night.

Intro to Madkot

Madkot, commonly known as beach bat is played by most Israelis at every beach. The beach bat "babes" line the beach as close to the sea as possible. This is a nightmare for all other beach goers because you cannot walk along the seashore or get to the sea for a swim for fear of being struck in the eye or on the head by a small rubber ball zooming at a speed of 200km/h (or thereabouts). These rubber balls are normally hit with tremendous force so that the opponent has no chance in hell of being able to return the ball! I missed the theme day about "what I hate about my city" but this would definitely top the list.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Part 2

Very similar to yesterday's photo. But this photo was taken from the train and is of a microlight flying along peacefully. It must be really amazing to fly in a microlight and see the world from a bird's eye view.

Is it a bird? Is it a Plane?

I took a train up north to Binyamina this morning. You can see how green it is at the moment and the woman sitting opposite me doing her crossword puzzles!

We've been having some great weather in Tel Aviv and people have started going to the beach. This photo was taken at Atzuk Beach, North Tel Aviv.

Sushi2Go

You always get great, fresh sushi from Sushi2Go. It is definitely the best sushi take-away in Tel Aviv. And they deliver!! What more could you ask for?

Lost Bull

I found this bull quite a way from Rothschild Boulevard. I think one of the IT companies bought it and put it here in Ramat Ha'Hayal. This is one of the bulls from the famous Bull Parade.

Irish Pubs in Tel Aviv

This mural is outside Leo Blooms Irish pub. I must admit, that I haven't been to Leo Blooms but I've been to the "sister" pub, Molly Blooms, and it is a lot of fun. Nothing like a good old Irish pub and a Guinness!

I missed the eclipse, which was apparently really beautiful. Here is an image (from CNN) of the lunar eclipse as seen from Gaza City. Read more about the lunar eclipse and see more photos on the CNN site.
